1 - I can only write poetry that has something to do with death. I don't know why, but that's just how it is.
2 - I am currently reading The Plot That Thickened by P.G.Wodehouse; and Howls Moving Castle by Diana Wynne Jones.
3 - The next two books on my To Read list are: The Giver by Lois Lowry; and The Maze Runner by James Dashner.
4 - Reading is good for you (The dinosaurs didn't read, and look what happened to them!).
5 - EVERYONE should read the Sherlock Holmes books by Sir Aurthur Conan Doyle.
Welcome to the shop! I'm Kayla Rose, and I'll be your Wordsmith during your visit.

A Story: He Doesn't Fail
Howdy! I decided to post a story I wrote almost a year ago, in response to a writing prompt on Writer's Digest.
Let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it! :)
He Doesn’t Fail.
Let me know what you think! I hope you enjoy it! :)
He Doesn’t Fail.
There it is again, the wolf like monster with
glowing red eyes and bright green fangs dripping with bioluminescent saliva of
the same color.
Our eyes locked the moment it appeared, and we now
stare at each other willing the other to back down, to look away; but I know the
stakes, and I know he doesn’t fail.
I’ve seen it in my dreams almost every night of the
three years my family has lived in this house – though I had seen it before then
as well.
If I blink a moment too long, look somewhere other
than its eyes, or move too quickly, it’ll burst through the window, and devour
me, tear apart my flesh, not bothering to kill me. My screams will sound like
whimpers; and nothing – not even my bones – will be left in the morning.
I desperately want to believe this is another
dream, but in my dreams the window is always closed, and right now not even a
screen fills the hole between us.
“I must not blink, I must not look away,” I whisper
“don’t blink, don’t look away,” I chant louder and louder.
The monsters ears twitch. I go louder still, hoping
someone will hear and help me. My eyes are getting dry and burn fiercely, I
want to blink. I risk it, my eyelids flash down and back up. The monster seems
closer, but I’m not dead… yet…
I hear the clock tic out the minutes. I must stay
awake.
The creature’s eyes glow brighter, and its’ tongue
brushes over its’ razor sharp fangs. The ears swivel again.
We both cringe when a shrill whistle screeches
nearby. The monster looks away first and I dive for my dresser, I yank open the
bottom drawer and pull out the pistol I’m too young to have. I swing around and
switch the safety off, just as it lunges through the window. It lands and
knocks me on my back, I am dazed for a second but quickly return to pain as It,
rips open my left shoulder. It’s legs pin me down but I manage to turn the gun
towards It’s stomach and pulled the trigger three times as I scream in agony.
Three more shots and It collapses on top of me knocking the wind out of my
lungs.
The door opens and my whole family runs in guns
drawn. Mom closes the window, and Dad and my brother drag the beast off of me.
My little sister examines my wound; her whistle hangs around her neck.
“We got to get this fixed up,” she says the obvious
“hospital or here?”
“Here,” I reply through gritted teeth, “I’d rather
not have to explain this,”
In Which I Return And Talk Of Things
Hey everyone!
I apologize for disappearing without warning. I have an explanation! I was acting in a one week acting workshop, at the end of which we (the other kids and I) put on a production of The Giver by Lois Lowry. It was exhausting and amazing. And I got to work with wonderful people! And that is why I dropped off the face of Earth. But I am back now!
How are all of you? How are your writing endeavors? Are any of you participating in CampNaNo?
I am, and I am very behind in my word count; because of The Giver.
I am actually at Starbucks so I will try to have a writing session as soon as I finish this post.
I will try to have some interesting stuff up soon!

Beautiful People: Parental Edition
Well, better late than never right? Beautiful People!
Hop over to Further Up and Further In to learn more!
This time we will be talking with Agent Steven Cary Hitchcock.
He goes by Cary. And he's from my story Agents and Assassins (formerly known as the John and Naya story)
[key: Me, in blue. Cary, in red.]
Ok Cary. Thank you for coming to this interview.
You're welcome. But I really didn't have any choice in the matter did I?
You're right, you didn't, I know your pressure points.
You mean people.
Yeah, but I was trying to sound cool.
Ok. Perhaps we should get to the interview.
Oh, yeah. Now, these questions are phrased as though I am supposed to answer them, I'm not going to mess with rephrasing them, so just roll with it ok.
Ok.
Question 1: Do they know both their biological parents? Why/why not?
Yes, I knew both of them. They raised me until I was thirteen, when they died in a car wreck. Then I lived with my Grandma and Grandpa on Mom's side, and Mom's sister.
I'm sorry for your loss.
....yeah... but I can think about them easily, and life with Gma, Gpa, and Aunt Sophie, was good.
Alright Q 2: Have they inherited any physical resemblances from their parents?
I look a lot like my mom. But I have the same eye color as my dad.
And what color is that?
Brown. Mom's eyes were green.
Question number 3: What's their parental figure(s) dress style? Add pictures if you like!
Well, Do you mean Mom and Dad? Or Gma, Gpa, and Aunt Sophie? Or perhaps you mean Jagger from D.I.D.?
How about all of them.
Mom and Dad dressed like normal people. Gma dresses like she's stuck in the fifties, Gpa was pretty normal. Aunt Sophie is a little eccentric and she dresses like it; and I really can't explain it. Jagger likes to wear an open button-up or a jacket, over a t-shirt, with cargo-pants. Often camo somewhere. He doesn't have the best fashion sense.
And... I'm probably going to regret that statement.
Haha, Ok. Next.
4: Do they share any personality traits with their parental figures? And which do they take after most?
I'm often told I'm like my Dad, but I really don't see it, he was great, but we're nothing alike. I think I am more like a mix of Mom, Gma, and Aunt Sophie.
Then why do others think that you're like your Dad?
Perhaps because I was at one point interested in following him in his career of a Gemologist.
Hmm, I did not know that! Very good.
The next question is number 5: Do they get on with their parental figure(s) or do they clash?
We all get along really well. Mom and Dad were great and we rarely clashed. Jagger and I often have differing opinions, but we haven't had any fights in a couple years.
6. If they had to describe their parental figure(s) in one word, what would it be?
Mom would be Loving; Dad would be Curious; Gpa when I was a child would be Gentle, but as he got older it changed to Distant; Gma is Surprising; Aunt Sophie is Enthusiastic or Eccentric; and Jagger is... Expressive.
7. How has their parental figure(s) helped them most in their life?
All of them are and were so encouraging. Without their support I wouldn't have gotten anywhere. I was pretty shy as a child and socially awkward. They all helped me come around to how I am today.
8. What was their biggest fight with their parental figure(s)?
Jagger and I once had a fight on irrationality. I had done something stupid and he berated me pretty soundly, and of course I argued back. Then shortly after that, He did something rash - though heroic - and got injured, so I was upset that he hadn't taken the proper precautions.
What about with your parents?
None that I can recall.
Gma, Gpa, and Aunt Sophie?
None of us really fought.
Ok. Cool.
Next question...
9. Tracing back the family tree, what nationalities are in their ancestry?
We have a lot of German from both Mom and Dad's sides, beyond that, we're not really sure.
10. What’s their favourite memory with their parental figure(s)?
My favorite with Dad... I was eight I think and I had a crush on this girl that I knew. I told him about it and he counseled me to wait and see how things played out. As I got to know the girl better I discovered that she really wasn't very nice. I was devastated, so Dad took me out for Ice Cream, and we talked about all kinds of things.
With Mom, it was after a baseball game, when I was ten. I had gotten a splinter during the game and I was trying not to let anyone know that it hurt. But afterwards I showed it to Mom and she quietly dealt with it, so that my team wouldn't find out.
Gma and Gpa share a memory. It was a year after Mom and Dad had died I was having a lot of trouble in school, so they came and found me one afternoon, and announced that they were going to homeschool me from now on.
With Aunt Sophie... Hmmm, let me think... I have so many... Maybe the time we were riding a Farris Wheel, and we got stuck at the top, she didn't freak out or complain. And we ended up playing rounds of thumb war until we got down.
Who won?
I don't remember.
And what is your favorite memory with Jagger?
We were on a mission in a village - that must remain nameless - and I had gotten attacked by the local street thugs. Jagger came to my rescue. He took care of me, but never let me feel incapable.
Ok. Well, I'd love to hear more, but we are out of time. I've got writing to do!
Thank you Cary. I know so much more about you than I did before.
You're welcome. I'm glad to have been able to shed some light on my past.

In Which I Argue With Two Of Me:
I'M GOING CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well... Crazier, anyway.
As some of my personalities would say: "We're already crazy!"
To which I would reply: "But maybe I'm not as crazy as I think I am."
The conversation would end there as none of us would be quite capable of convincing the others.
But anyway... I am going crazy!
Crazy-er!!!!
Ok, crazier.
You ask Why? Why am I going Crazy-er? Oh, simply because of... the Ultimate Theatre Kid Problem! And just what is that problem?
Well, we'll tell ya!
No! We'll show em'! "Show, don't tell," you know!
Cut it out you two! Yes, I'll show them. And tell them. By showing them.
Now you're trying to be confusing!
But maybe she's not!
See what I mean about going crazy!?
Crazier!
Okay now! Here Is what I am trying to show you!
There! The Ultimate Theatre Kid Problem: Not being in a show!
It's awful! Agonizing!
Fearfully Horrible!
Absolutely Excruciating!!!
Yep. I am stir-crazy from having nothing to do. That is my malady. I was so busy for so long that now that I'm not doing anything, it feels just so--
Horrible!
Excruciating!
Exactly!
Oh! Goodness! I really ought to introduce my two other selves that have joined me today. Or, actually, I'll let them introduce themselves!
I'm Vespera! My name is Latin for Evening Star! Cool huh?
I am Hallward. And I really don't see why you needed to know that.
Ok! I think we're done here. I'm going to try to write.
Try!?!?!? You're the Smithy! Writing should come easily!
She's right, Smithy Rose.
Oh, great! Now you're ganging up on me!
NO! We're just agreeing against you.
As if that made any sense!
Stop it you two! Ok. Everyone, I gotta go.

Five Fact Friday: Sadness
1 - Sir Christopher Lee, passed away a few days ago.
2 -There's nothing like death to remind you of the frailty of life.
3 - I'm in a sad mood
4 - Christopher Lee was 93
5 - When I heard that he had died, I suddenly got very worried about my other elderly heroes.
This post is quite a bit sadder than what I have written here before, but I feel that death is something everyone should ponder. Just don't do it too much if you are afraid of becoming a little bit morbid.

Five Fact Friday: Water, Art, Cats, and Owl City
1 - You ought to drink half your weight in ounces of water a day. Meaning if you weigh 100 pounds, you should be drinking 50 ounces of water a day.
2 - I want to learn to draw in an Anime/Manga style.
3 - Cats are awesome.
4 - Owl City is awesome.
5 - The third fact is a fact that might be disputed but is a fact nonetheless.

Sugar and Spice
I just had an idea!
I'm going to write a story about Sprites.
And center it around this little girl: Lilly
Her friend: Evvanna
And the antagonist: Cassandra
The story is called Little Girls and here is the Pinterest board for it: https://www.pinterest.com/rosecottagekitt/little-girls-a-story/
Comment any ideas - or pinterest links - and I will do my best to incorporate them into the story.
